IS IT CALVINISM OR IS IT BIBLE?
When the Bible says we are born into sin, after the order of fallen Adam, there are some things to consider. As one born into sin, we are depraved, without hope, dead in our sins, and worse than filthy rags, a menstruous cloth, deceitful above all things, corrupt, rebellious, the wickedness of men in all the earth, unrighteous, sinful, depraved, reprobate and unable to tell right from wrong, and worst above all as enemies of the cross.
So you will know, if God had given us free will, we would choose sin and evil above all because that is our nature. We would never choose righteousness because that is not our nature. Nor could we. We were made after sinful Adam. We might choose good works, charitable giving, kindness, and may even be merciful to some people, but we will never choose righteousness because that is not our nature. Some things men may do would be to steal from their company the trash that is thrown away because after all he has worked there for 20 years and his boss would not care yet he would never ask to take what was not his. He would cheat on his wife because his neighbor never takes care of his wife and she needs support. He would steal from the bank as a teller because he reasons he can replace what was taken. He can take from his dying father’s estate because he feels like he is the favorite son before his death and the reading of the will. He will cheat on his taxes because he feels his duty to country as a soldier has never been adequately compensated. And the list goes on and on. He can always justify what he is doing though he has become reprobate in his thinking. The truth is that he is a sinner and cannot do right or make right decisions because his heart is depraved.
Recently, I did a 14 second post saying that God has chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the World. The multitudes that read that post were angry and felt I was teaching Predestination and Calvinism and kept them from their “free will”. Those words were never addressed in the short post. But, the truth is, men cannot nor will they choose righteousness because of their “free will”. It is impossible because of their sinful nature. And, that is true even if they have believed on Christ as their savior because of the sinful nature of the flesh. It is impossible for men to conceive that God has elected some to salvation and some to wrath that he might show his mercy to those who are to be saved. But, what is it to you oh man or woman of God that God is willing to make one part of the clay righteous and the other unrighteous. Have you ever thought that God might have a forward plan. But, oh no, you want a choice in your salvation. You want to choose whether you want to be saved or not. Thank, God, he is thinking ahead of you that he would choose you unto salvation.
So, God has done a marvelous thing for us. He has preceded our thinking and our “free will”. He wrote our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life before the foundation of the world. He has accepted us before we accepted him. He has counted us righteous before we were ever born. He knew that we were a sinful people so he went to the cross to take away our sins. The Law of Moses he nailed out of the way, because the Law being Holy, he knew just like Israel we could never keep it. He gave us gifts of repentance that needs not be repented of because he knew we never could truly repent. We could only repent because we were sorry we got caught. He gave us the gift of faith because he knew that man always wants to justify himself by his works. He has appointed us to eternal salvation, and not only that but he also has appointed all men unto salvation though men think they can achieve that by their own righteousness. He knew that mankind could never chose him so he chose us first. He knew we could never come to him unless he first draws us. He has appointed to us righteousness that we could never attain to in the flesh. We have been made Holy by his Grace. He has given us his Grace because he knew we would always try to attain to his Holiness by our works. He was resurrected and ascended to sit at the right hand of the Father because there would never be righteous person to atone for the sins of the World.
God has chosen us before the foundation of the World. God has appointed each one of us unto salvation before we even knew we needed it. God has elected us and chosen us to be Sons of God while we were yet sinners. God has given to each one of us gifts to be his Sons of God and Joint Heirs of Jesus we knew we needed it. He has grafted in to his vine without our permission.
In the end, all we need to do is accept all his free gifts because we have been predestinated, elected, appointed and chosen to be Sons of God. It is his last will and testament to give us the gift of eternal life.
